Behcet’s Song (You’re Not Alone) Lyrics
I know that sometimes you feel afraid
You’ve prayed and you’ve prayed but the sores have stayed
Pain, embarrassment, & fatigue are always there
But it’s the loneliness, the loneliness, almost too much to bare
Well guess what? You’re not alone
To prove it I’ve got lots of scars all over my legs, balls, butt, back, chest & even my tailbone
It’s extra scary with both the cure and cause unknown
But you don’t have to face it by yourself cause you’re not alone
Achy joints, sore muscles every day
Two new sores for each that went away
It takes heroic strength to leave the bed
Tried every med, done everything the doctor said
But at least you’re not alone
I know it’s easy to be bitter like prednisone
Behcet’s can make you wanna scream, cry, curl up and die, whine, moan, vent, and groan
But you’re not the only one: you’re not alone
Blurry vision, ringing in the ears
A million racing thoughts, a million tears
Of this disease you’d give anything to be free
Health is the crown on the well person’s head only us who are ill can see
But we’re not alone
At times we’ve all felt like we’ve been hit by a cyclone
Or at the very least a football sized hailstone
It’s true Behcet’s is not well known
Each of us rare like a precious gemstone
All your struggles are much like my own
One more time in a high-pitched tone: you’re not alone
